I am the first to blog, with the line-up for tonight. Noted, the menu was based on the weather forecast, and --- and, I was betrayed. Not 89 degrees fahrenheit as promised, no, it is cool. Rainy. There is an overlay of clouds. Now, I don't mind that really. But we'll have to have summer in the brain, because we will have summer in the stomach. This menu required an astonishingly small amount of heat to produce, though I did use almost every appliance I possess, at least once.

Prelude: champagnes
(and they did a very nice ode to champagne. I'm sure it's a greatest hit, or will be.)

Snack: grapes, rolled in Oregon Blue cheese, and toasted almonds

Next: gazpacho with tortilla chips and bay shrimp

Next: green salad of mixed lettuces, with Fern Ridge herbed goat cheese, rolled in hazelnuts and baked until nice and soft in a balsamic shallot vinaigrette

Finale: Rum truffle cake and coffee for those who want caffiene.

It will be hard to compete with Monroe St Cafe's chili fries, but one must do what one can.

Today, following champagne, we started with: salad rolls, stuffed with baked tofu, curry peanut sauce, cilantro, arugula, mint, bean thread noodles, with a ponzu dipping sauce.

We'll continue with cucumber seaweed salad. Nothing like that tidepool fun of seaweed salad.

Then we have tilapia, on a bed of bok choy, shitakes, rice, and scallions, with a sesame chili sauce, baked in foil.

And then we have orange chocolate cloud cake.

Yay!!! LaunchPad had an excellent gig at the Monroe St. Market last night. We had a full attentive crowd for 2 hours until we ran out of some of our sort of space steam and had to wimp out to get more beer.

Someone else wrote that. Turns out it was Mr Random, but he was pulled from the keyboard by coffee-making duties. This is Mrs Random now, reporting back on the menu. The Orbital One made caipirinhas. Mmmm. The, when it became time for food, we started out with salad rolls, with tofu & curry peanut sauce. I did some spectacular dish breakage, shards of glass all over the kitchen. Very dramatic, very sad, but very impressive. Keee-rash! Yow! When I do it, which isn't very often, I really, really do it. Then we had a sort of pacific rim soup, red quinoa, leeks, coconut milk, peanut butter thai curry, & fire roasted pimentos from last summer's farmers market. Then we had shitake & garlic flans, with an arugula, heart-of-palm, tomato & pine nut salad. That's where we are right now. Upcoming attraction - coffee & chocolate meringue truffle cake.

Mr Random will have to start again.

I'm slowly getting gear set up for Swarm today. Orbital Disco Dave will be here in an hour or so...

I think he's gonna yell at me for not going to the Tom Waits tribute last night at Sam Bond's. I guess I deserve that but I just wanted to hang out with Mrs. Random and get to sleep early, which I did. Yeah, he's probably going to call me a baby. I slept like a baby.

Mrs. R is making some fabulous food. The cake is done and standing here on the table looking terribly irresistable.

I realize then that she was up to some secret "hanky panky"!!I then thought --"she is a double agent"--So I conveyed in a song to Mr Random and revealed the truth and thwarted Lelus communications with ha ha ha ha !!!!!!!

Mr. Random stops to ask "Where's our snack??" That means he's a baby.

Mrs. Random asks "Do you want more margueritas?" duh. "Well then make them!" she relplies.
